June 23rd will mark the 100th anniversary of the life of famous English mathematician Alan Turing. Ars Technica has a great article that highlights some of vast accomplishments of a man considered to be one of the grandfathers of modern computing.

An excerpt from the article

Turing’s genius played a key role in helping the Allies win the Battle of the Atlantic—a naval blockade against the Third Reich that depended for success on the cracking and re-cracking of Germany’s Enigma cipher. That single espionage victory gave the United States control of the Atlantic shipping lanes, eventually setting the stage for the 1944 invasion of Normandy.

With the New Year comes a new website release. The Old Republican is a website / blog that is dedicated to the new BioWare® online game set in the Star Wars environment called Star Wars: The Old Republic. The website has forums, guides, videos and will eventually be accompanied by a podcast. If you’re into gaming and Star Wars check it out.

I have recently launched a new website focused around the Blizzard Entertainment game World of Warcraft. Warcraft Professional’s primary goal is to help players of the game with things like playing the Auction House, soloing content, and raiding dungeons with groups.

As part of this site’s release I have also released a simple online application for calculating the costs associated with certain professions in the game. For now, I’m calling it the Warcraft Professional Profession Calculator.
